The Georgia 9-1-1 Directors Association is an organization whose purpose is to:
A. Aid and assist in the collection and dissemination of information relating to Public Safety Communication Management.
B. Promote and support the development and management of Public Safety Communications.
Its membership is open to all persons who are directors, assistant directors, and any person who has managerial responsibilities of a Public Safety Communications Operation.
The Georgia 9-1-1 Directors Association will be successful by working closely with established organizations, such as APCO and NENA, and is not intended to replace these vital organizations. The Georgia 9-1-1 Directors Association will be the vehicle used to take issues and concerns of the 9-1-1 community in Georgia to the appropriate audience.
The Association was organized in 2004 and already has made an impact on legislative agenda’s at the State Capitol. Directors from across the state were instrumental in the successful passing of HB470, an omnibus bill addressing many concerns and discrepancies in previous legislation dealing with the 9-1-1 community. This was accomplished by the Directors of the State of Georgia coming together as “One Voice” with a common message.
The Georgia 9-1-1 Directors Association will continue to work to bring our issues to the State Legislature and other groups throughout the year in an effort to better educate them on the mission, needs and concerns of the 9-1-1 community.
